Positive Pins

Pinterest is one of my favorite websites. You can share almost anything to anyone. It's a great way to share ideas of all kinds to those you are connected with on the web.

I have my very own board dedicated good vibes. I am somewhat new to Pinterest, in that I just started creating my own boards and actually "pinning". I encourage you to make your own Pinterest if you don not have one, or start using it more often. I am graciously providing the link to my very own Pinterest. Please don't laugh at how bare it is, but get inspired instead.

Crafty and Whatnot

Sometimes my roommates and I decide to make Walmart trips.

We either go for food or for crafts, and the past trip was for crafts if you hadn't guessed. I've always loved art and bringing out my creative side, so it was not hard to get inspired. I intimidated some burlap paintings from Pinterest (which is the best thing ever created).

Simple crafts like this are super cheap and easy. They don't take too much time. You can do almost anything from canvas art, to personalized coffee mugs, to custom canvas shoes.

Art is one of the best ways to bring good vibes to you and others around you. The act of making art releases stress and calms you down. I encourage everyone to sit down and create something that will remind you how great life is.

Love Your "Haters"

McDonald's nailed the idea of loving your enemies with this 1 minute commercial. Even though the world is filled with rude, competitive people, you should be respectful to everyone you encounter. You never know what the power of kindness can do.

Living with Divorced Parents

According to statistics, 1 in 2 marriages result in divorce. My parents were an unlucky 1 of 2.

My parents split when I started high school. This was a stressful age, let alone I was brand new to the school and town. I didn't know too many people well enough to reach out for support and my brother was older and more acquainted with everyone else and my sister off in college.

I reacted pretty well overall, as my parents had argued and disagreed since I can remember. I also realized I was at the age that I needed to "man up". Now I'd like to say this life event made me a really emotionally stable person.

This was quite the opposite. I have always been an extremely sensitive person and still am to this day. I may not show it in person, but when I am alone, I let all my emotions out. Pretty much anything can make me cry. A good movie, Ellen episode, ASPCA commercial. It's rough living a sensitive life.

My main point is that having divorced parents doesn't have to be such a gloomy time in your life. It's not the end of the world even if it seems like it. Everything will work itself out in the end. Just realize you are loved. Stay positive.

Summer Lovin'

There is nothing better than the warm sun kissing your skin. Summer is by far my favorite season on this planet. Weather is warmer. Days are longer. Life is better.

As much as I would love to say that summer is a constantly happy couple of months, there will always be some rainy days. One of the best ways to prepare for these cloudy days is to create a bucket list. For a really creative summer bucket list for you and your friends, click the link below!

Rain, Rain Come Again

When my sister graduated high school way back in 2009, her class motto was “Life isn't about waiting for the storm to pass… it’s about learning to dance in the rain.”

As cliché as it may sound, sometimes you literally need to just go dance in the rain. It is one of the most freeing experiences in the world. Forewarning, people will stare at you and yell snide comments out their windows from dry cover, but ignore these people, they’re not worth your time.

Here are some tips about dancing in the rain:
  1. Find a friend to praise the rain with.
  2. Don’t wear makeup or glasses. One less thing to worry about.
  3. Wear shorts made of athletic material, long pants of any kind will stick to you and be uncomfortable. Shorts are also much easy to remove post-dance.
  4. Do not wear a white t-shirt. If the weather is a bit chilly, wear a thin long sleeve shirt or sweatshirt.
  5. If you don’t have rain boots, buy some. If you wear shoes, wear only old, worn out shoes. They will smell awful when you are done. You can wash them if you chose, or use some type of shoe cleaner/powder to freshen them.
  6. Leave any valuables inside or in a sealed plastic container. If you want to capture your dance, have a friend take a picture from under cover.
  7. When dancing, let down your hair. Embrace the elements.
  8. Find as many puddles as you can and go crazy for as long as you please.
  9. Take a warm shower and wash clothes as soon as possible.
  10. Feel brilliant.

Movie Vibes

Photo from http://www.thisweekinsarasota.com/2014/10/movie-review-st-vincent/

Over spring break, my family rented this movie called St. Vincent. After about 10 minutes into it, we all were already skeptical and wanted to give it a rest. But I made them power through, because I was the one who had paid for it.

The movie follows this young mom (Melissa McCarthy) and her son as they move in next door to a cranky old man (Bill Murray). The son ends up spending time with the neighbor, more than the mother would like, and together they encounter life's challenges. The pasts of these new neighbors will definitely surprise you. You don't want to miss this film.

I loved this movie because it shows that everyone has a past, but it is how you chose to take on the present and future with the knowledge you have learned that makes all the difference. The way you are really does affect all of those around you.
